At Cusimano & Associates we understand how to implement and execute a results-based worksite health and wellness program that will maximize the benefits to both employers and employees. Improving health and wellness can have a very real impact on profitability and productivity.
The keystone of our program is the Individual Wellness Plan (IWP) - a comprehensive life plan based on results from a Health Risk Assessment (HRA), biometric testing, and an interview with a qualified health professional.
The IWP is designed to individualize treatments, incentives and goals for every employee. It recognizes that health and wellness cannot be addressed without examining every aspect of an individual's lifestyle including physical and mental health, physical activity, nutrition, family life, work environment, medical history and more.
Creating cultural change and awareness must begin first with empowering individuals on a personal level. Many traditional wellness programs are activity-based and have incentive programs that work best for individuals in low- to medium-risk categories that are often either currently living healthy lifestyles or are easily motivated.
Our incentive programs target the "deconditioned" population - those in the highest health-risk categories who are not in the habit of making choices that lead to health and wellness. Incentives designed to motivate high-risk populations are also successful with individuals in low- and medium-risk categories and thereby serve to best improve the health and wellness among the overall populations.
Online programs are also most effective among generally healthy and already motivated populations. The personal contact component of our program is one of the key elements in ensuring success among the high-risk population.
One-on-one contact with a dedicated Team of professionals provides the support and encouragement needed to maintain motivation and successfully define and reach goals. This approach also offers participants a higher level of accountability than online programs that are easily discarded or ignored after initial enthusiasm wears off. Most importantly, it allows for individualization of plans, goals, and definitions of success.
We have designed our Teams in a way that ensures all employees have the resources and assistance required to address the full spectrum of life issues. Our Teams are comprised of an Exercise Physiologist, Nutritionist, Registered Nurse, Lifestyle/Licensed Professional Counselor and a Site Coordinator. Depending on the identified needs of each employee, counseling and coaching will be provided by the Team Member most capable of addressing the specific health risks or wellness interests and goals of each employee.
Other key program components include:
* Monthly Coaching/Counseling Sessions
* Public Awareness & Marketing Campaign
* Weekly Seminars and Workshops
* Farmer’s Market
* Cafeteria Healthy Choice Menu
* Customized Incentive Programs
* Health Library
* Online Resource Database
Developing a program that is responsive to employee interests, health-risks, issues, and concerns will be paramount in encouraging participation and driving a company-wide commitment to health and wellness.
We will make all employees aware of the program, resources, benefits and opportunities available within the first month of operation.
The key to any health and wellness program is engagement; and the best way to achieve engagement is through personal contact with a team of certified and licensed professionals. Our Team will deliver an unparalleled program capable of individually tailoring specialized plans to the unique life circumstances of every employee.
Real health and wellness change is about improving the overall quality of life for individuals. Our program is designed to educate, empower and encourage individuals to make lifelong lifestyle changes.
Too much emphasis on short-term indicators such as weight loss, biometric indicators, or minutes spent in the gym, shifts the focus away from underlying factors that prevent real commitment to a lifestyle that reflects a lifelong dedication to health and wellbeing.
The Individual Wellness Plan (IWP) is a vehicle for successfully committing to a lifetime of healthy choices, educated decisions, and a better quality of life.
We develop a personal relationship with each employee and look into every facet of their life including sources of stress, work environment, physical activity, food choices, medical history, interests, and family situations.
When we design weight management programs, we determine underlying behavioral, emotional or physical issues that may play a role in the weight problem and direct them to the appropriate Team Member for counseling (exercise physiologist, dietitian, nurse, or lifestyle counselor).
There is more than one solution to almost any problem and we will implement creative and innovative solutions that are most likely to successfully motivate and encourage every participant.
Employees will participate in monthly coaching sessions that provide follow up care, progress assessments based on IWP goals, and ongoing modifications to the IWP that reflect changes in lifestyle, circumstances, health, etc. These monthly meetings also create a personal connection between our Team and employees that lends to greater accountability on the part of employees, more educated program design on the part of our Team Members, and more accurate reporting for the employer.
